Solas was founded on a simple belief. Workplace intelligence should shine a light on people, not watch them.

"Solas" is the Irish and Scottish Gaelic word for light. The name reflects everything the product is built to do. Not to monitor, not to report, not to judge. To illuminate. To help people see their own communication patterns, their own growth, and their own potential.

We founded Solas because we kept seeing the same problem. Organisations investing seriously in their people, running leadership programmes, building compliance frameworks, commissioning engagement surveys, and still lacking a clear, honest picture of what was actually changing. The tools existed to collect opinions. What was missing was a way to understand behaviour.

Solas was built to close that gap.

The Team

The two people behind Solas bring together what most intelligence products keep separate. Deep technology and product experience on one side, and executive coaching practice on the other.

That combination matters. The coaching methodology inside Solas does not come from AI-generated prompts. It comes from years of working directly with leaders, understanding how behaviour actually changes, and knowing that data alone does not develop anyone. The technology surfaces the patterns. The coaching framework helps people act on them.

Iain brings a product and technology background shaped by building tools that work for real people in real organisations. Originally from Ireland, he co-founded Solas with a clear conviction: that the standard approaches to workplace intelligence were measuring the wrong things, in the wrong way, for the wrong audience.

Ian's background is in executive coaching and organisational development. He has worked directly with senior leaders across complex, high-stakes environments, and that experience is embedded in everything Solas does. The frameworks, the coaching prompts, the way the product thinks about behaviour change, all of it comes from practice, not theory.

Our Approach

Co-designed. Certified. Built on evidence.

Solas was not designed for organisations and then shown to employees. It was co-designed with feedback from employees who used the tool to understand and grow their career. A product that employees do not help and care for employees will not be adopted. And a product that is not adopted helps no one.

That commitment runs through everything. Solas is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified and fully GDPR compliant. It is built on Google Cloud Platform with a privacy-by-design architecture that makes the data boundary between employee and employer a technical constraint, not a policy promise.
